Samuel X Radbill, pediatrician and medical historian, was born in Philadelphia in 1901. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1924 and married Frances Hoffman in 1925. In 1926, he opened a private practice in his home and was certified as a pediatrician in 1938. Radbill died in Philadelphia in 1987. Herman Beerman was born in 1901 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He received his B.A. in 1923, his M.D. in 1927, and his Sc.D. in 1935 all from the University of Pennsylvania. He served an internship at the Mt. Sinai Hospital and his residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Beerman continued his career at the University of Pennsylvania in the School of Medicine and the Graduate School of Medicine in the Departments of Dermatology.
